Any ideas about excited pee Our 5 mo old Iggy sleeps in the x-pen at night, all is good, but in the morning when we get up, he jumps up and down wanting out and pees everywhere. He so excited to see everyone, he'd rather greet then do business. Its the same when we come home or someone comes over. We've tried ignoring him, not making eye contact. But still he's too excited. Any other ideas? Oh and one night he slept with us and actually just woke up and I rushed him to the door, but he peed on the way out. Thank god for wood floors. I need help breaking this so I can find a home for him. |
I am not sure how much this will help, but it may... For both my GSD and my Biewer, I have taught (or am teaching in the case of the Biewer) that before I give them ANY attention they need to sit. Want to have me pet you..sit. Want to go out the door...sit. Want to come inside..sit. Want to get your leash on to go for a walk...sit. Want to get out of your crate...sit. I started this with my shepherd when he was a puppy because he got REALLY excited and a big excited dog is not a good thing. Most times now I don't have to say anything to my shepherd..he sits. The Biewer we are still working with and I normally have to tell her to sit once. Sometimes when she is REALLY excited I have to tell a few times and then wait and she will calm down and realize what she is supposed to do. I think that having your dog sit before they get attention it may help with the excited pee, as all the crazy excitement will disappear. |
