apt./condo dwellers using peepee pads For those of you who are in an apartment/condo.....who use peepee pads.....what do you use? [litter box w/pads, just pads, pads w/tray]...and where did you place them? |
I use pee pads in the tray and also place a washable pad underneath in case anything leaks through- they are very good about staying on the pads but I want to make sure the floors stay nice because I don't want to have to pay when I leave. I have mine in the corner of my bedroom because mine stay in my room when I am gone, at night, etc... I have a roommate- If I ever lived alone I would prefer to keep it in the bathroom. But I keep it very clean and it doesnt cause an issue. |
I just use pads. Kasha's still learning, so we line our extra bathroom with the pads and change them after about 2 uses. Not very green but it helps with the scent( I also spray lysol & wipe down with clorox wipes) Once she is more reliable I'll most likely use pad holder so there is no chance of leaking. |
I tried using a litter box the first day that I got him but he didn't seem to like it much and would just jump out. So now I have a 2x4 pen set up with a vinyl shower curtain liner underneath the entire pen and the pen divided into a bed side and a pee pad side. I don't think he understood at first and was holding his pee but he finally peed on the pad side this morning so hopefully it'll work. Anyway, I got the vinyl liner idea from another thread on YT. It's really nice since I have him in a carpeted room. I havent had to clean the liner yet because I put 2 layers of pads in case the top one leaks, but I read that the liner is easy to clean if necessary. |
I just use the pads. I have hardwoods though, so I am not worrying about carpet etc. Its a lot easier if they miss the pad and I also just spray with Lysol to clean and get rid of the smell. We keep ours in the bathroom too...just because I would rather accidents happen on the tile than hardwoods but either way she HATED to litter box we tried at the beginning and is much better just using the pads. |
Thanks So Much For The Replies!!!! I am doing a litter box with the peepee pads inside, which I have ordered from Drs Foster & Smith. The litter box is one of the large purina boxes and it is funny because the peepee pads are the same color. A light tan..... My bathroom is Tiny so I can't put it in there.... and I was keeping the doors to my bedroom closed, when he was teeny tiny just so I can keep an eye on him..... So I have the box in the the corner of the dining room.... but have been thinking recently, since he is getting bigger that perhaps I will move it into the bedroom. I probably need to decide Soon where I am going to place it so he isn't confused. I take him outside and he goes there..... but want to make sure he is able to go if he really really Needs to go when I am not home. I had a dog of 13 years who passed in June of this year who was never trained on pads, and that is one of the things I really wished I had done...was trained him to the pads if he absolutely Had to go. |
