I think it would be as long as you sanitize the area first to protect her from other animals that may have been there before. I did this for Rizzo (but I don't have grass in the yard, just a brick yard that only he has access to) so it was easy to get it clean. I didn't know it was safe to bleach a lawn, but it is a very good sanitizing technique. Just make sure to get all the bleach rinsed off as these dogs love to chew on grass and other vegetation. Leaves have started falling off the "privacy bushes" I have in my yard, and naturally I've been finding them in Rizz's kennel. Sneaky little creatures, lol. Good luck with the potty training, it's tough stuff. Are you going to give her an indoor option to potty when the weather is bad?

Yes it would be safe to let her on the grass or whatever you have in your yard. After you apply once & let dry then rinse & let dry. It will have done it's job and been diluted enough to be safe. Congratulations on your new baby:)

No, i do not intend on indoor pottying being an option. My other yorkie goes out, rain, shine, cold weather. Our winters are usually cold, but nothing unbearable, very little snow. I don't know how to incorporate both indoor and outdoor anyway. Seems like she would be confused as to where to potty.

We did piddle pads first, and then transitioned to outside. Scarlett has had no problems realizing that both are available for her personal use. I'm glad I did it that way because we can get some pretty nasty weather sometimes (heavy rain and thunder/lightening) so we always have the piddle pads to fall back on.

i totally understand that and in all honesty, i wouldn't mind not having to go out in the rain, so i will ponder on teaching her both.
btw...i like the name scarlett, this is one I'm actually considering. :)

Yeah, Rizzo won't go potty outside if there is rain, so you're definetly lucky with your pup, I wish I could get him to go when it's bad weather (spoiled, lol) Mostly if he hears thunder then I can't get him to go near a door or window so I needed the piddle-pad option, it's a great fall back :D Good luck!
