Wont Listen My yorkie Cruton does no really know how to sit or lay down im wondering if anybody has any tips on how to train my yorkie. |
I got my Yorkie when he was a bit older (close to 2) and he did not know any basic commands. I have been working consistently with him over the past year, and he is really learning a lot, which I think is amazing as his former owners had not worked on obedience training with him at all. To start, I figured out what motivates him individually. He is very treat motivated, and he loves carrots. I chopped baby carrots into bite-sized pieces, and dedicated time every day to train him consistently. When he would perform a command correctly, I rewarded him by praising him and giving him a bite of carrot. He's learned several commands this way. |
My Yorkie and my Shorkie both know when I say sit or no, but they come a running when they hear me say "look what I have" |
I'd suggest you go to a pet store and pick up a book on Yorkies that includes chapters on training. There are also a couple of magazines currently out that I bought -- one on Yorkies and one on training puppies. Also -- if you search this forum, there are a lot of threads describing techniques members have used to train their babies. |
Thank-you every one i will follow our advice. Thanx |
