Starting to poop somewhere else instead of her potty spot My yorkie has been pretty much 100% potty pad trained for the last 2 months but lately I've caught her pooping somewhere else in the house when we aren't watching her (my fault for not catching it). This seemed to have started after I got her eating wet food. What could be causing her to do this? It appears like she is having some sort of regression but I don't know what has caused this. If she was in another area of the apt, she would normally run straight to the potty pad in my bathroom to use the bathroom and then she would run back out to continue doing what she was doing. We live in a small apt and since she had been doing so well, we decided she could have free roam of the apt but now I'm thinking its not such a great idea. I also, plan on getting her spayed before the end of next month and am expecting her to have some regression with her potty training since I hear that occurs but not before then!! I would appreciate some answers and experienced advice on how to handle this. |
bump for some responses. |
i have had the same issue. sometimes mine will take random poopies in the kitchen and just last week for the very first time EVER went tinkle on my toilet. he has been potty trained for a long while too. he goes outside and on the potty pads. i know he knows when he has done wrong because he always runs and jumps on us ready to hand out kisses. and also, my neighbor/godmother ....he has done the same at her house too. she has potty pads set up in her back room for her dog and harley will go back there too and use them. but after her return from being out of town for a few weeks, he will go #2 in her front entry way. :( and again, he knows he was naguhty. when i go over for a visit, he stays home now. i will only take him over for short lengths of time to test him, but he still managed to do his deed in the 30 min we were there. :( i am not sure why he does this. when i am gone for longer lengths of time he goes potty on the pads. and he has access to the whole house. i never have any problems. he is 1 year and 3 months old. he only does the dirty deeds while we are at home. |

Harley does this too... I just kind of gave up.. he starts on the tray, and then walks away and it doesn't "fall off" until he's off the grid. It annoys me, but I just clean it up and keep trying. Also I just started timing his poos, I try to get him outside for at least one of them, that way he doesn't make too much mess in the house. Interested in hearing what everyone has to say. |
Could it be the wet food causes a quick BM reaction? |
