indoor potties! good evening just curious of what you use for indoor potties, living up in canada and with winter around the corner, im not looking forward to taking Sidney out in -30*C for a potty and im sure she wouldnt be too pleased either... i know of pee pads just wondering if there was something else... there is an advertisement hear on the tv of a grassy type thing, the urine goes to a storage area, and the other stays on top of the grass.. im wanting to get something fairly soon, as to train slowly |

Walgreens have started to carry the Potty Patch. They're around $40 US and are very user friendly! You can even put a pee pad under the turf and that makes clean up very easy! |
I have the Rascal Dog Litter Box. Roxie wants nothing to do with it :( They have redesigned it now, and it looks a lot better than the one I have. RASCAL DOG LITTER BOX COMPANY, L L C HOME PAGE |
Macy uses the Potty Patch. Since switching to the Potty Patch from Pee Pads she doesn't think the area rugs are a place to go too. I think the feel of the synthetic grass made her catch on that this is the place to do her business. I use Pee Pads under the grass for easy cleanup and once a week hose off the grass to clean it. I also didn't want to go outside in the winter plus we have fox and coyote nearby. |
For those of you that have the potty patch-- doesn't it start to smell? |
Living in Michigan, I understand the need for indoor potties for our little furries. My Sydney (great name!) uses a litter box lined with either disposable wee wee pads or the reusable kind. |
We use a kitty litter box with the high sides (but we have a boy). Your girl won't need the high sides. We put a few paper towels in it and put a mesh wire type thing on top of the paper towels so he can't get to it. It works perfectly for us. We change the paper and clean the pan as needed--about every two pee pees or one potty. This way it doesn't smell. |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...og-ugodog.html I use a grid system... here is the link where I discussed how to make one... It's really hard to buy one of the mentioned products in Canada, and personally I don't think it's worth it to spend that much money to have it shipped up here (I priced it all). I will try and remember to post some pictures of Harley's grid soon... |

You have to decide which method of training will work best for you and your pup and go from there. |

Word of caution though...the grass is definitely not for wringing, if you do, pieces of the grass start to easily come off and may start to clog up your drain if you're not careful. |

I find my 2 go quicker when it is cold. It is nice in a way :) |
I use a grid system too with potty pads. We have been using it for 4 years. We put the potty pads under the grid. Quick and easy to clean up! |
