What age was your puppy fully housebroken? aka, you could rely on them fully to let you know they wanted to go out. |
My little girl was 100% fully trained by 8 months.......... but that was to go on pee pee pads. Never trained her to go outside. I read somewhere where yorkies feel like "when you start going outside, then I'll start going outside". I just thought that was funny. Anyway, inside on pads was easier. |
Sasha was about 8 months old when all of sudden she srted holding it at night and then started "asking" to go out. One of the biggest things was using the word "potty" with her every single time she went out and was going... and then asking her when she would wake me up in the morning and again before bed "Sasha do you need to go potty?" Taking her out as soon as I got home helped too... So, it really came down to taking her out regualarly, creating a cue, reinforcing by talking to her when she was doing the right thing and making it fun. Cause going out should not just be about going potty... Making certain she was playing before and after was important too. :animal-paTrevor |
really, wow we are still fighting with Kaylee and she is almost 2 and now shelby rae had decided that if kaylee won't go out neither will she... my hubby is getting tired of cleaning the carpets...but I know she'll get it eventually. |
Jackson... I like to call him 99.9% potty trained. He will go and poop in the living room maybe once every 2 months, and it's typically when it's raining outside... or if I'm not paying attention to him. Sometimes he barks at the door just to go out, so there will be times, he's barking but I don't let him out thinking he doesn't have to go.. and then find a nice surprise... but he is totally outdoor trained. Oh and he was 99% by 6 months old, and is now almost 2. |
Paris was going through the night within the first week, but she was in a crate and almost 11 weeks old. We are about 99% there now and she is almost 7 months. |
winston is doing well Winston is 3 1/2 months and he is using the pee pads very well. My husband can not believe how great he is doing. When I take him outside he is peeing also, and I tell him that is a good outside potty. He hasn't poo outside yet. Winters can be cold here in Ky. sometimes so I really wanted him to use pee pads. I keep a friends Yorkie,(that's how we got hooked on them) and Molly goes outside but if it is cold, raining, snow on the ground she will not go outside. She will pee at the door mat or in the house. I have to limit were she is allowed and she is 3yrs. So I wanted to make sure we didn't have that problem with our pup. Goosh, I love him so much I can't stand it. |
I think Rocco was around 5-6 months old for 99% reliable outside peeing and pooping. He's 8 months now, and he's had 2 poop inside accidents since he was neutered about 2 weeks ago. But all is normal now ;). I'll still occasionally find dribble marks from his "excited dance" that lets out some pee...:D |
Duke will be 3 in October and goes on the pad, though I do not have any rugs in the house as he has had multiple accidents on there but since I don't have any - no accident. |
Sophie was pretty much outside trained by 8 months. She barks to be let out. My trouble with her was getting her to go the entire night. She still, on occasion, will wake up after 4 hours and need to go potty. |
