Urine Marking My Yorkie is a male and twelve weeks old. He is now starting to raise his left hind leg to pee. He doesn't do it all the time. How do I stop from raising his hind leg? Since he doesn't have all his shots, we don't take him outside yet. We are training him to use puppy pads inside the house. :aimeeyork |
Welcome to YT!!! Personally, I could be completely wrong on this but I don't think a 12 week old yorkie marks. I see nothing wrong with the act of lifting the leg. In fact, I think it's a much cleaner way to pee. The pee gets all over the tree and none on him or his fur. :) My boy uses piddle pads too. He typically squats on the pads, or does a squat-and-lift. My only advice to you is if you want to stop your boy from marking, neuter him once his growth plates close. If he does start to mark before you get him neutered, you can train him not to. It takes a while, but it can be done. |
lifting and peeing I would not worry about him marking at 12 weeks. He is a male and males lift there legs to pee. If once you have him neutered and you use a pad if he lifts his leg you can always use a 2 liter bottle with water in it place it in the middle of the pad so he will pee on the bottle and not the wall. But I think once he is going on the potty pad he may just squat.Good luck |
Thank you for your comments. I appreciate the advice. |
