Potty training HELP.
 
My 5 months old yorkie has been eliminating his waste in the middle of the night for the last 2 or 3 days! I don't know what causes him to do that. Usually he would wake up early in the morning to go. Also, his schedule is inconsistent. Sometimes he would go before bed, sometimes he would go in the morning and now he's going when everyone is asleep! That is the most frustrating part because we can't hear him wake up. How can I make him stop?? He hasn't eaten anything different either, he's only been eating his dog food.

I put a bell on my little guy so I can hear him in the middle of the night. Also, make sure you don't feed him or let him drink water before bed. :)

Are you leaving food down? If he is a free eater he is a free pooper! lol I didn't have any luck until I started feeding my 2 boys on a schedule. I feed them twice a day. After they eat. I pick it up. They get more consistent as they get older. Good luck,

Where is your little guy sleeping? Is he in a crate beside your bed?

Here lately, my 2 1/2 month old Yorkie is doing the same. No free access to her food, routinely fed, no water right before bed, and she whines like she is being murdered when she has an accident in her crate, which tells me she doesn't want to be around it. I guess my question to go along with this is how long should it take for a 2 lb. 14 oz. puppy's food to digest so that I can make sure that she is awake, out of her crate, and that I am able to take her outside to eliminate? Her dog food doesn't contain any fillers, and it is Nature's Recipe if that makes any difference. If anyone can help us through the hurdle, I'd greatly appreciate it. I knew before getting her (according to the internet) that Yorkies can be a challenge to housebreak. She's smart enough; I just need to be smart enough to make our schedules jive. :D

My little 5 months yorkie is doing much better now! I just had to make him stop eating so late at night. I take his food away from him around 7:30 or 8 and he is doing great at night. He sleeps very peacefully and hasn't had any accidents in 2 nights now. So I think you just have to watch what your yorkie eats. I hope it helps.
