4 months old and Zoey is not likeing the crate My wife and I probably made a big mistake with our pup Zoey. We let her sleep with us for the past few months we have had her. Now I have purchased a crate which is just right perfect size for her. She wakes us up at night barking at everything, So we decided to put her in the crate for the evenings, Now after about 1/2 hour of whining and wimpering and crying we give in and let her out of the crate, But she continues to bark at noises outside of our bedroom. So back she goes into the crate and the whole process begins again! does anyone have any Idea's or Suggestion ? We really want to sleep and occasional privacy if ya catch my drift....LoL Zoey is just attatched at the hip:confused: |
What ever place you have her, consistency is going to be the key. She's learning that crying and whimpering will eventually wear you out and you'll give in. If that's where you want her to be, then you will have to bite the bullet and put up with it. And it will get much worse before it gets better! Only take her back out when she is quiet. |
Oops... maybe it should have been the other order. Crate first, then bedroom ;). But seriously, treat her just like a baby that fusses at night. Be sure before you put her in the crate that she has gone potty. Then when she starts whining, just let her hear your voice reassuring her that it's ok. DO NOT take her out, or you will never, ever win. Perhaps give her your shirt that you just wore to sleep with, and cover her crate partially to visually limit what she may bark at. Also, keep a night light on nearby. Good luck!! |
