New Bad behavior My 10 mos old spayed female, Sophie, has recently started barking and chasing after my Grandkids when are they leaving her presence. She likes them and is always happy to see them. They are 7-13 years old and frequently are running when they are doing anything. It almost seems like a prey reaction, but I know it has got to be stopped. Any ideas? |
Allie does the same thing with my husband and 12 year old son, but not with me or my son (15). Curious to see responses. I tell them to stop walking & correct her or turn their back to her, but they r not consistent at ALL. |
Is she play chasing them? Or trying to bite them? |
Ruger is also 10 months, and he barks at all kids. He usually stops when they pet him, but the barking often scares them away. |
Jackson could care less about the kids he knows and is familiar with (my little 6yr old brother and his close friends, cousins, and my little sister). They can run, scream, whatever, he doesn't care and likes to join in on the fun. :) Strange kids, however, if they make fast/quick movements, he will sometimes do the same barking thing. He's definitely an alert dog. I can tell the difference between his play barks and alert barks. If he's just playing, I let him, he has fun... but the alert thing can be annoying. I use a squirt bottle. It may sound cruel but it's just a few squirts at him and he stops. I tell him "no bark" every time and he listens. He doesn't bark at kids if were outside or in a store or public place, it's only in our house. |

not nipping She just barks so I am not sure if she is playing, not wanting them to leave, or if it is some prey response to the quick movements. I will tell them to stop and scold her when she does it, so far I have been doing the scolding. Glad to hear she is not the only one.:) |
Lucy likes to chase anything that moves but she is just having fun; she is not nipping or biting. She just likes to RUN. She is amazing with kids, I must say. She even lets the little ones pet her but I don't let it go on too long so she will continue to like them! |
My 4 month old furbutt just recently started getting impatient and demanding with me haha, if I'm on the couch with my laptop working on some work or in the kitchen cooking he will bring his toys and sit them next to my feet, look up and bark at me non-stop (and growl!) until I give in and play with him. This will go on the entire time I'm home and when I'm walking around he will chase after me like a crazy person! It's kinda cute haha but he does act like the world is going to end if I don't give him attention....not sure how to fix this but I wouldn't have gotten a pup if I didn't want to play with him! :p |

Mine is 4 months old too and does the same thing when she wants to play. The thing is she never barks at anyone else...just me...and just when she wants to play. It upset me the first time she barked and growled at me till i figured out she was playing. |
