Bullet is biting A LOT! I've had Bullet for almost 3 weeks now and he's developed quite a habit of biting my hands/fingers. I've tried telling him "NO" firmly, I've tried giving him a toy to bite (but he tries to bite my hand that is holding the toy), I've tried yelping/crying like a dog to tell him it hurts but he won't stop biting! It's a playful bite, not an aggressive bite but he tends to hold on once he's gotten a good grip. I think he's teething too (he'll be 16 weeks this Friday). Any suggestions on what else I can do to stop his biting? I'm afraid he's going to draw blood! |
I feel your pain..I have a 12 week old yorkie. Someone suggested on another thread that they used Bitter Apple on their hands. You can get it at Petco or Petsmart. Hope this helps. Good luck! Mom to Zoe |
I'd try this... |
I remember those days :) Try the water bottle and spray him when he bites you or the coins in the can idea?? |
Thanks - I forgot about the water spray. It worked well when we were teaching Rio to not bark like a crazy dog. I'll try the bitter apple as well - still have a bottle from Rio's chewing days too. I hope Bullet takes pointers from Rio - Rio has turned out to be such a good girl! |
I've already started trying one of the suggestions in the video -- "OFF". So far, it seems to work wonders. My Tango is only 13 weeks old but I'm amazed how quickly he learns. I bought him a new teething toy today to try to engage him. But after I watched the video I immediately started doing the "OFF". He's happily playing with his new toy now, and mommy can finally type on the computer! :) Thanks for the great suggestions. |
