Help! My male yorkie is urinating on furniture! Hi, My yorkie puppy is now 7 months! I left him and his brother and sister at my boyfriend's mom's house while we went on vacation for 8 days. When we got back, his mom told us that Louis (7month male) has been lifting his leg and peeing on the furniture, walls etc.. He is potty trained and didnt know how to lift his leg to urinate before we left! After coming back from vacation, the first 2 hours that we left him and his brother and sister at home alone, he urinated all over the place on walls and furniture. He even jumped on the dining table and urinated right in the middle all over the remote control for the tv! Please help? Does anyone have a solution? We are getting him neutered tommorow. Thanks  |
LMAO>.............. ok, im not laughing at you, but i can just picture this and it is really a VERY funny picture running through my head right not...... in all seriousness you should have had him neutered before he started to lift his leg (if you didnt want him to do this, or if you are not breeding him)... getting him neutered now, MIGHT stop him, .... but......... now that he has learned........ Do you have him go pee pee inside or outside? because i know they sell "aiming posts" so that he can lift his leg adn pee on that... best of luck i really do sympathize with you, and again iw asnt laughing at you, i was laughing at the lil movie running through my head of youre doggy doing these crazy things.... its straight out of "meet the parents" :p |
:) All I can say is that I hope you had a really good holiday...!!! :) Bet you could have well done without this nasty little surprise on your return?! Poor you!! Not sure what to say although of course you are absolutely taking the right step by having him neutured. It may take time after the op but hopefully you will see a big improvement. Good luck with the op and let us know how he is.... Ana x |
Getting him neutered is a start. I think I've read somewhere that is many cases it stops the dogs from marking. Another thing you may want to try if the neutering doesn't work is to get belly bands. See link: www.tsfannymaelivershunt.com/shoppe/spage1bb.htm |
Thanks for your responses and sympathy =) Thanks for responding to me everyone! I will definately let you know how he is doing after surgery and will post a picture of all of my 3 yorkies soon. I am so delighted to have just registered here yesturday and received so many replies! :) I let him go pee pee both inside (on pads) and outside.. Orinskye + Yorkieagility are SO cute! :p |
diaper vs. belly band I found a diaper made by Four Paws at my local pet store that has velcro tabs. My Luca Dean will not be neutered, so we are heading off the lifting problem by getting him used to the diaper before he starts marking. (He hasn't yet, except for marking the bricks that hold his wee-wee pad in place, but we know he will.) Luca Dean has this uncanny ability to take his clothes off (you'd think he's human sometimes ... very sneaky about it too.) And he will rub on the side of the couch trying to get the diaper off sometimes too. (But it generally stays on -- gets down to just his skivvies (sp?.) The belly band never would have worked for him. He'd have it off in a few seconds and run in, lay it at my feet or chew on it. Just a thought about band vs. diaper -- but if he is being neutered, he'll lose the urge to mate, but not necessarily the urge to mark things. Luca Dean wore his for housebreaking, and when he wet himself he was very uncomfortable. He finally went to the pad 90% of the time, so we don't use the diaper for now. Good luck!!! Also, |
The diapers made by Four paws are for female dogs. It will not cover a males wee wee. I say that, but as small as yorkie are, you probably can get one big enough to cover it. Of course Four paws may have come out with something for males but check before you buy. |
