Barks in Car Sydney does well when we first get started. She either travels in her belted-in backpack or her car seat where she can see out. The result is always the same. If we're traveling down the road, she's relaxed and laying down. When I slow down and click the turn signal, she will cry and bark. Whenever the car is stopped and I shut it off, she will cry and bark. When I'm dropping any passenger off somewhere, she barks and snarls. I have tried giving her treats when I click the turn signal, but she won't take it. She will still cry and bark. I do wait until she's sitting and quiet before I take her out when we do go somewhere. Any suggestions? |
I want to say sorry for not getting to this earlier. I would like to suggest through a dogs ear for car rides and see if that helps. JL |
I haven't heard of that one before. Thank you for the idea. For anyone else: "Through a Dog's Ear" - Music for Dogs and Everyone Who Loves 'em! I have also tried DAP, but that doesn't seem to help. |
The music sounds interesting. If you order it, let me know what you think. I used to play classical music for Max, but I stopped because I had so few relaxing albums and I think we both grew tired of them. I recently started deep breathing exercises, like yoga breathing, to calm Max and it has helped immensely in the car. He loved barking at motorcycles, school buses, trucks, and pedestrians. The excitement of arriving at our destination was also a trigger for whining and barking. Now he just enjoys the ride. |

I use the calming one for in house for my dogs and guest dogs and I find it works but I would love to hear if anyone else uses them and if they work for them. JL |
