Ripping up stuffed toys - he won't stop! Hi there! Lennie is a 4 year old Morkie. I can't give him any stuffed toys to play with because he rips them apart and eats the stuffing. When he goes to my son's house or to my sister's house, they have to pick up their dogs stuffed toys because "Lennie is coming over and he will destroy them!". Lennie does have heavy rubber toys to play with. If it was a light rubber material, he would rip those apart and eat them. He had one light rubber toy with stringy pieces and he bit and chewed them all off (and, of course, swallowed them). Does anyone else have this problem? |
OMG Judy, I could have written this! My morkie, Cooper will be 2 this month. He tears apart all of his stuffed animals and eats the stuffing as well! |
Well I don't buy stuffed toys for this reason either. They just get destroyed. They work to tear off a little corner and then it's all down hill from there. :rolleyes: Have you ever tried the toys without the stuffing. My monsters love them and there is nothing to pull out and make a mess with. They are called Mini Skinneeez Mini Skinneeez Stuffingless Dog Toys - Big Dog Toys Wanted to add that I have seen them at Walgreens too.;) |

Once Cooper pulls all the stuffing out of the toy, I throw away the stuffing and give him back the beat up 'non-stuffed' animal. It seems to work. However, he seems just as happy having a washcloth. |

These "stuffing-less" toys seem to be very popular. I work at Petsmart and whenever we get them in, we sell out of them really fast. Right now, I do believe they're our #1 selling product. Sasha has taken apart a few of her toys & had a ball ripping the stuffing out. I'm just not sure if she'd play with a "stuffing-less" one. |
Just another voice to vouch for the Skinneez toys. I got Chloe the rabbit for Christmas and she has only just this morning finally ripped a hole in its nose. This is a record for us. Most of her Christmas toys had to be tossed within a couple of weeks because she destroyed them so quickly. Luckily, with this toy I just cut around the ragged edges and she can go back to playing. No more finding little pieces of stuffing lying around all over my house!! I've had a tough time learning that just because I think the toy is adorable doesn't mean I should buy it. Ninety percent of the "cute" toys aren't indestructible! -C |
Thanks, all! I will have to check our PetSmart stores here in Canada to see if they have the stuffingless toys. They do look kinda cute! Plus, if he does get hold of a stuffed toy, I will remove whatever stuffing he hasn't eaten and let him play with what's left of the toy! |
I'll have to give one of those a try. Squeekers get killed pretty quickly. However, Bella is the "de-stuffer" in the household ... she goes right for the crotch :eek: . I don't care what kind of animal it is, the same place gets attacked. My grandson cringes ...;) |
