Time out! I'm fed-up!!! This morning Thor hasn't started the day off very well. I have put him in time out twice!! He is tormenting the cat and growling and fighting with him!!!! I won't stand for that. Not that I think he know's why he is in a tiny dark room by himself, but its mostly for the "ignore him effect". He doesn't say in for very long, probably a minute but I am so frustrated! He needs to be repremanded (sp?) for that terrible behavior! These dogs and cats... He just doesn't seem to get it! Hannah |
Boy do I know the feeling! We have 2 cats, one of which he's annoying right now! you would think they'd know by now, especially because Tucker gets swatted a few times from Muffin when he annoys her! they are too tough for their own good.... |
It seems that no yorkie can resist a cat. Thor also gets swatted (with nails, Paladin the cat isn't declawed.) This still doesn't detur (sp?) him! What gives? |
Keep your waterpistol close madam - 'cause that's a tool that works. When he does something you don't like, squirt him a few times and say "no" - he'll learn! |
i don't know if this would work for you, but i taught dex the command of "enough." "no" means that he is not allowed to do the thing ever, and enough means that he is doing too much of something that is okay. i learned this in obedience class with my parents/family dog. when dexter gets a little too rough (like with my best friends 10 week old poodle), i just say enough, and he clams down. hope it helps |
I think that pretty common with yorkies "THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR SIZE!" :D |
Isn't it just innate that they would do that? :D |

i think i'm going to try a spray bottle someone suggested earlier. |
Get a water pistol. They have a better and longer aim. :D |

noted. ;) |
silk is so mean to my Remmy who is not a cat but a male dog...I tried the water bottle thing and that does not work. When I let them outside she goes out first and then turn around and snaps at him when he comes out. water does not deter her. |
We brought Penny home at 5 months so maybe that helped with her training, but we taught her a "No Kitty" command immediately. She wasn't allowed to chase the cat. I was worried about my 6 year-old cat feeling threatened. Now they play wonderfully together, with the cat initiating it half the time. |
