Need advice on my 6 month old Yorkie We have a reasonably well-behaved Yorkie puppy. We have her paper trained in the house, and within the past week we had three incidents where bits of poo were getting stuck to her fur. We were yelling at her to stay on the paper because we thought she was still going to the bathroom. Now within the last day she has gone in different places around the house 4 times. The place we got her from said she is going through her "terrible twos" and is acting out and testing us by going in different places. We're afraid we gave her a complex about going in front of us. Any advice? Please help! |
I had the same experience with mine before. He was paper trained and all in the sudden, he started potty everywhere he wanted. Try to limit the places where your little one has access to. Try not to yell at her because she'll think you're playing with her. When you see her sniffing around like she's going to pee/poop, pick her up and put her on the paper. Always have treats ready to praise her. We always praise Sandy when he goes potty on the pad. Every morning when he's out of his bed, he'll walk to his pad and pee. After his breakfast, he'll go there for #2. I personally think it's not hard to potty train them, it does require some time and patience. Good luck ;) |
Thanks for the advice! It only took us a few days for her to train us... we basically put the pads down in the area where she was pooping and we had almost no problem until the last week or so. We spoke to the vet and the place where we bought her from and the consensus seems to be that she's testing us. She's been better the last couple of days but this morning again she walked off the pad right in the middle and ended up soiling the rug. |

She has been much better the last few days. We took her for a haircut so the hair on her behind isn't getting in her way anymore. |
