Agression toward cars :aimeeyork One of my yorkies (2 1/2 yrs old, female, spayed) has always displayed agression toward cars. I have never taken either one to training classes and for the most part, they are well behaved. This one - Chloe - barks a lot when inside (at anything that moves outside!) and barks viciously and runs after anything that moves while on walks. I am SO afraid that one day I won't be able to lock her leash fast enough or it will break, etc. and she will get hit. ADVICE???? |
Not sure what to do, but I would start by not using a retractible leash. This will give you a lot more control, and use the command "close" a lot with a reward. Hopefully, the dog will figure out it's better to stay close to you and get a treat than to chase cars. My neighbor has the same problem, and when he locks that leash the dog is often at full speed and it looks like his head is going to pop off. |
