litter box anyone?! hello!!! i have a 10 month old yorkie boy, pogi:animal36 he is trained to go outside in his same spot of grass...but since i will be gone for a month over the summer i have been trying to litter box train him for the person he will be staying with.it's so hard! first we started out bringing him to his grass spot and when he started to pee we would drop him into the litter box..so he would realize it is his pee on the box... then we put him in the bathroom..which is fairly large..and we didnt close the door but we put up a puppy gate so he could still see us..but he just wouldnt mind the litter box (with pee pad in it and a lil old pee) and he would just staight up pee on the gate while standing up and whimpering :( we even tried outside of the bathroom setting coaxing him in the liter box with treats so he would realize that the box is good and that he could get a lot of treats from it..no go either :( advice please! and fyi: we dont use dog litter...just gonna put in pee pads, and before he used to use pee pads so he nose what they are :animal-pa |
I have no experience with this, but I've read other posts from other people here who have tried to do basically what you're doing. Try doing a search - hopefully you'll find some of those topics. I know that for some people, it works eventually but it's not easy to retrain like that. For other people, it doesn't end up working. Good luck... -Lauren & Nikko |
Using a crate and sticking with a routine is the best way to go. That's what I did and it worked. Sydney goes outside, but she will also use her litter box with a wee wee pad inside. I hope this helps. |
