Need help training my Yorkie.... When we purchased Riley he was a sweet and loving dog. We have had him now for about 1 month, and he bites us all the time, will not sit still, and if he does something wrong (like bitting on his new siblings) and we get on tho him he throws like this temper tantrum. I do not want to keep him in hi cage all the time, but I can not get him out with out him bitting me or my husband. How can I calm him down. I have never had a puppy like this. |
He is likely not biting just mouthing. Puppies do this. Does he have chew toys. When he does this to you or your husband just get up and walk away from him. He will catch on that you don't like it and he won't like being ingnored. I worried about my Zeus when he was a puppy but he grew out of it. Training classes are always a good idea. |
He is really bitting. To where it leaves teeth marks. He has 4 nalabones with him, and all kinds of toys. But, I still can not get him to stop. |
Have you tried yelping really loud when he does this? |
I know I am probably going to get into a lot of trouble disclosing this - but, my little girl was horrible at biting. So, everytime she would bite I would squirt her with a water bottle. It worked...she stopped biting. After squirting her a few times, I would usually just show her the bottle and she would stop. |
Puppies bite. Their teeth coming in must be awfully annoying and the gums must hurt them terribly. Your puppy is not biting you to be mean it's a natural thing for them to do. You need to have patience and teach him no biting. My daughter's Min-Pin had the sharpest teeth I have ever felt. He drew blood daily on my hands. They were needles. This will pass. Everytime he goes for your hands, tell him no biting by Gently holding his mouth closed then immediately give him one of his bones to chew on or better yet a treat bone. Don't use his crate for punishment. He's adorable and just wants to be a puppy and play, bite, poop and pee.:p That's what makes a puppy a puppy. I promise his biting will stop once those baby teeth are in. Remember, say gently no biting while holding his mouth closed for a second, letting him know it's wrong and you still love him. You;ll see, it works, just be patient. |

He is not biting, Im going through the same thing with Sophie, first they want to play, and that is their way of playing...rough at times..this is only a stage and she will get over it. Teething is a big factor, wait until she starts chewing on your baseboards ( Ill post pictures later LOL).Is she getting enough exercise/play time ?..puppies like kids, need to use their energy |
No good info here but wanted to say mine is the same way. I went to look at your pics and laughed a bit cause all of them are in his play pen. I guess he is a naughty baby. I do try to stick a toy into my boy's mouth when he is trying to bite me. Good luck to us surviving this stage :) |
Lone Star Bella is the same way, she is full of energy and wants to play and fight. FORTUNATELY we have 6 other dogs and some cats for her to terrorize. She gets most of her play energy out with them. The worst thing I have to deal with is her running full force onto my lap and licking my mouth before I can close it! :p |
