Training treats Nick starts his first obedience class soon and I am wondering what kind of treat I need to get for him. Nick is a little on the picky side - has never really liked crunchy biscuit type treats so I need something moist. No chicken either - allergies. Any suggestions? Thanks. |
Jackson's picky too. He won't eat the hard biscuit type. He loves Zuke's training treats. They're really tiny, small and soft and come in 3 flavors I think. About $5 for a 8oz bag of them. You can get them at Petco :) There's a few other brands that also have the tiny training treats that are soft that he loves... one of them is Bil Jac I think? It's a little purple bag with a yorkie on it. |
I agree. The Zuke's are good training treats if he doesn't like the crunchy treats. Does he like jerky-type treats? If he does, I'd recommend Wellness Pure Rewards. |
Lola loves Zukes too!! |
I think I'll look at Zuke's. I got Wellness Puppy treats for Nick a while back and they always made his poop runny. I like the size of Zuke's. Thanks for the responses!! |
I always went with chicken bits for training classes to motivate my dogs. I also like freeze dried liver bits. The newest little training treat I like is called "Little Stars" (we sell those on our site, they are the size of a pencil eraser, and are organic) The best treat though, is any treat that motivates your dog to do the commands you are teaching him and for some dogs, you need to be really high value with your treats (chicken). Our Teddy was so afraid in puppy class that he did not make friends til the last day and he spit out his chicken and any treat. So it depends on the dog! |
