Owning two Yorkies I currently have a rescue Yorkie male that we've had for 6 months, I'm in the process of adopting another rescue male Yorkie tomorrow. Is this the right decision on owning two rescue Yorkie both under 2 years old. My first rescue is finally housetrained (95%)..the other Yorkie is not housetrained. My guess my trained one would teach the other how to be a dog http://kona.kontera.com/javascript/l...rey_loader.gif . Thanks. |
Congratulations on your new addition to the family! Having 2 Yorkies has its benefits and its challenges. If you can, have the dogs meet on neutral territory, outside your home. Is your first dog pad trained or outdoor trained? Either way, when you bring the new dog home, limit his freedom of movement in your house. Confine him to one room or maybe even an xpen for potty training. When he goes potty where he is supposed to (pad or outside), praise him profusely. Never stop praising. Increase his freedom within your house when he does things correctly. Supervise the 2 boys for potty training purposes and to make sure they get along with each other. Best wishes! |
