? Are Females better then male to train Was wondering if a female is easy to train then a male? |
Are you talking about potty training or, like, obedience training? |
I'd love to know too for both...potty and obedience. |
I think it's really impossible to say. Males are often known for being more willing to please and less stubborn in general but there's a TON of really smart females as well. I can only speak from my experience that Jackson has been super easy to train with tricks & obedience because he's super food motivated and loves to please me, whereas my dad's female Jack Russell is not so motivated and kinda does things on her own terms... but that's only 2 dogs. I think any dog can be trained with patience and effort! |
I only have one Yorkie (a male) and as far as obedience training is concerned, I couldn't have gotten more lucky. He is so smart and picks up on things really quickly. He's very food motivated so I think that helps A LOT. lol. He has been so-so with potty training. It's partly our fault because we haven't gotten him neutered yet and was doing really, really well with potty training until he started the marking thing. Truthfully, I would imagine that it depends more on the individual dog than its gender as to how well they train. |
Chloe being my first yorkie, I can only speak from the experience with her. She is now going on 5 months old and is "coming along" in her pad training, with an occassional miss now and then. We have her in puppy class and she constantly surprises me how quickly she learns and retains anything new. |

My little pee's on my sons bed... Sorry ment to say: My little kiKi pee's on my sons bed: Hi, advice needed..my little KiKi has peed (english term) twice on my sons bed in the last two weeks....she is really very good in the house and will toilet practically on my command in the garden.... what is she trying to tell me? I am at home most of the time as I am retired, she doesn't do it when I'm out, but when my son's out..is she trying to put herself in the command chain in the house hold? mom, dad, Kiki, Dan....what can i do:confused: |
I've always had male dogs through the years. There were 3 mini poodles and 1 yorkie that passed at 13. Piper is my first female and she has given me a run for the money when it comes to house training. The males were very easy to train yet Piper was 8 months old before I could actually consider her house trained. Once my males were trained they never had accidents even if I was gone all day. Piper has to go out frequently or she will have accidents. My males always let me know when they needed to go out while Piper doesn't. I know she has to go out just by her body language. She gets fidgety and paces around I call it her potty dance. I wish she would just bark at the door the way the boys did. It's so much easier. When it came to learning basic commands Piper trained as easily as the boys. |
as far as potty training. The girls have been way easier. Lola our Maltese used to pee where ever she pleased. I gave up and put a washable diaper on her. Well Now we have Monica who turns 4 in April. I have started pee pad training. I am so happy that Lola the Maltese has just decided that she does not want a diaper anymore! She has been peeing 100% and pooping 99% of the time on the pad! She goes everywhere around the house without an accident and I am just in SHOCK. Monica followed her lead and also pees on the pads too! Now for the boys! It's a marking contest! One marks and the other marks over that mess. They wear belly bands now at home. Even if I take them out several times a day, they want to mark everything in the house. Gen |
I have always had girls, so only know about them, but they have always been easy for me in potty training and obedience. |
