She lives in Missouri. My good friend sister is the one who breeds them. My friend has a yorkie and she got hers at 6 weeks as well and hers was the runt of the bunch...with mine atleast hes not a runt. Her runt is 2 pounds full growen. Mine will def be bigger. Ive talked to my friend for advice and she told me that they worked all day and the dog did fine...I get on this site and people are telling me how horrible I am. |
do you have vet  you need to be asking a vet for advise with a puppy that young :( I don't care what the breed is, you just can not leave a puppy that young in a bathroom and have someone check in ever hour or so, would that person or you know what the signs are to Pravo, Caccida, Hypolycemic and Gardia just to name four and can you afford the vet bill  You say you husband will be home in 3 1/2 months in that time the puppy will be Ok to leave in a bathroom if it's health. Please Please Please asked a vet. what to do with a puppy that young. Good luck and be very careful. |

Missouri Animal Care Facility Rules Governing Licensing, Fees, Reports, Record Keeping, Veterinary Care, Identification and Holding Period I can see how she might not be aware of Florida law, but as a breeder she is certainly aware of the law in her own state. Airline transport of live animals is regulated by the USDA. The minimum age requirement for puppies is eight weeks old, also. Airlines can face huge fines if they violate these laws so they are very careful not to. You or your sister need to contact this breeder asap and let her know that it is against Florida, Missouri and Federal (Dept. of Agriculture) to sell and/or transport a six week old puppy. Since Missouri is the Puppymill Capital of the US, have you checked to make sure this breeder is not on the USDA "puppymill" list? http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/ListA2006.pdf |

The wonderful people of Yorkie Talk have taken time out of their day to help show you that not only is this not an ideal situation for you and your new baby, but it's also not ideal for the breeder. I'm not sure if she knows the laws but going forward with bringing your little guy home so young is against the law. Links to those laws have been posted so you are aware of the situation. We are not busy bodies here to make your life miserable, we are honestly here to help. The information is here for you to use and for your baby's benefit, it's really up to you to do the right thing. Sending prayers your way for strength and I hope your baby is safe. |
Thank you Thank you for all your responces everyone. Like I posted before she booked her flight to come already without my ok. She didnt ask if that was a good time or if it was ok or anything. So now I am here stuck with this pup coming. If I had read all your post before her booking her ticket to come I would of already told her to hold off a month more or not even come at all because all this seems way to much for me. The pup will be coming the 16th of March so at this point there is nothing I can do. Its coming and thats final. Instead of everyone telling me to hold off now u know my siyuation and please just help me take care of this pup the best I can. You all sitting here saying its to young its to young is not educating me on how to take care of him. PLEASE I need advice otherwise you are right...it will die. |
You say she is coming on the 16th, does this mean the pup will be 6 weeks then or is it 6 weeks now? If that is the case than it will be 8 weeks when being shipped. Sorry to jump in on this but I think you are missing the point, if the pup is less than 8 weeks old flying/being sold it is ILLEGAL. She needs to be the one responsible and change her flight then even if it costs her extra money. You can say no, you do not HAVE to take the pup just b/c she booked a flight. Are you affraid she will sell the pup to someone else if you ask her to change her flight as what she booked does not work for you? |

You need to talk to that breeder and let her know clearly that she LEGALLY can't sale you the dog that young! Your are getting scam!! Wake up and smell the coffee... This breeder is NO GOOD AT ALL. Probably backyard breeder/puppy mills. I would try to cancel the deal all together... We are all advising you with our best intention... really. Good luck with everything.. |
1. As stated Airlines will not accept puppies under 8 weeks (some 10-12) and they must have a vet cert. Sure would like to know what airline this is. 2. So what about getting 2? I never worried about getting Layla at 8.5 weeks because I have a GSD so she can be a dog! 6 Weeks! wow young. They have only had there eyes open for about 3.5 -4 weeks. Only been starting to digest real food for maybe a week. My advise Get 2.Then make sure you leave alot of time open in your schedule to ensure they are eatting. BTW I purchased a baby playpen for Layla and it worked great. Never worried about her getting hurt at home when I had to leave. Good luck and keep us posted. |

You need to contact this breeder, let her know what you have found out, and go to Plan B. |

If your heart and mind is set here, you have received some good care advise, but I will say, be prepared for heartbreak! Talk to your employer about bringing the baby, in a playpen, but keep everyone away, this pup will have very little resistance to anything. Good luck. |
The breeder is BREAKING THE LAW and if she finds a way on the plane she is doing it by lying and therefore BREAKING ANOTHER LAW. You are aware she is BREAKING THE LAW and are still going through with this, therefore you are helping her BREAK THE LAW. This is not the way to start off with a new puppy... it should be a happy, exciting time when you get a new puppy... you shouldnt have to worry about coming home to find it dead. You are getting the only kind of advice people here can give you. If this breeder insists on BREAKING THE LAW and causing you unneeded heartache in the process... find another breeder... there are lots of yorkies out there, you could start out on a good note... this will be better for you and the baby in the long run! |

If she booked her flight without your ok - then it's HER problem. I can't imagine ANYONE booking a flight to drop off a puppy without coordinating the information with the person they're dropping off the puppy to. What if you couldn't make it to the airport? What was she going to do then? Leave it there? March 16th is almost 3 weeks away. I'm pretty sure that the airline will let her change her date while it's within a 2 week period and with the same airline. If not - then that's really her problem for not checking with you first - so it's NOT like you're stuck with this puppy - IT'S NOT THERE YET!!! Not to mention that Ladysmom has advised you that it is ILLEGAL to transport a puppy that young. All of us would love to help you out on this but your attitude that we should be educating you is a little hard to swallow - especially since we have given you the information that you asked for and told you that you really need to READ up on the rest. We cannot do that for you!!! Someone will always be here to help but we can't possibly give you every bit of information that you'll need to know. Please take some responsibility for your actions. Seems like there are a lot of excuses going on here. I know you THINK that you're doing this puppy a favor but the biggest favor would be to put your foot down and tell this person that you will take the puppy when it is LEGALLY able to be delivered! This will give you a couple of weeks to do some reading and ask some more questions on getting a pet Yorkie. |
