Potty Pad Training-HELP for this Dummy I will be bringing home two new puppies shortly and although they will be about 14 weeks old because they are so small I would like to train them using potty pads. It will also be more convenient for me once I have to go back to work at the end of my puppy leave. I had originally planned to do this with my little guy but it didn't work well for us and now he does go outside, except when it rains he gives me a terrible time about getting wet. He doesn't mind snow but hates the rain. I'd love to have all three of them use the potty pad most of the time unless we're outside. From reading the different posts I know some of you use potty pads only, some only go outside and some do both. Can someone who does the potty pad and sometimes outside please help me out. |
I have no advice for you, but I am going to be adopting a 12 week old pup in a few weeks, and would love the hear what people have to say to you. :animal-pa |
My little biewer trained fairly easily and almost never had an accident. When they are little, whenever you take them out of their beds (mine was in a little playpen. with a pad as well) or if you are sitting with them on the couch, take them over to the pee pad and just say go pee,if they do praise them like crazy. Basically do this every 2 hours when they are awake and keep repeating the process. I think really praising them is the key. I found that washable pads are great and find the pooch pads for mature dogs size medium and large work best.
