wierd rituals?? I decided my girls need a refresher course in Pee Pee Pad 101 so we started that about two weeks ago. They are doing fantastic, very proud of them! I noticed they now both have weird "post potty rituals" and I don't understand it and was hoping to get some feedback. After Lola pee's or poops on the pad she runs to a carpet and does little back kicks as if she is kicking invisable dirt through the air. Lia, after she pee's on the pad she rubs her nose on the pad as if she is pushing invisable dirt over her pee. I don't get it??:eek: |
My Lola will do the same thing (kick her back paws) after she poops :) It so funny! It almost as she's trying to clean them? |
They are so cute performing their little rituals......I just hope they didn't pick up my OCD -clean freak-germ-a-phobic behaviors ;) |
My Daisy kicks it up when she poops. It is so funny and she is so proud:D |
It is like they are covering up what they did. I'll bet if they were in sand, that is exactly what would happen. I've noticed my kitty do that in the litter box...and I believe most cats do. It is an instinct that in born in them. Interesting though! |
It's is the funniest thing to see when they do that with their paws. I had read that there are scent pads in the feet and they are scenting the ground. I guess after pooping they still need to scent some more. lol |
A lot of dogs kick back over their poop. It's a lot more effective when they are outside in the dirt. :) |
Bilbo does the bull cha-cha (that's what I call it) when he wants to play or wants some attention--usually when we are blessing the food before supper. |
Dog's do this to cover up their scent from preditors. I guess it's something still built into their personality even today and being domesticated. |
Ella will go over to the rug and rub her nose up and down and around in circles after she uses the potty pad. When she's outside and goes potty she'll kick in the grass w/ her back legs. It's the funniest thing ever. =] |
Lola just cracks me up, she tinkels on the pad then runs out of the bathroom, through the bed room, and down the hall to the carpet to do her invisable sand kicking...LOL |

it's so kute when Teddi does that! usually he'd take a few steps forward before kicking away! but there have been a few times when he'd accidentally touch his poo and then i have to clean his paws! :rolleyes: |
Talking about PAWS.... My little guy uses his legs and paws like arms and hands... When he catches a ball or toy (which we are working on right now) He will catch it with his paws in mid-air and put it in his mouth before he lands... it is very funny to me! I will have to try and get this on video! Also when he lies on his back and we play... he will wrap his paws around my wrist to playfully get the toy or my fingers! |
strange little furbabies I don't know if all Yorkie/Maltese do this or if Belle is just odd:rolleyes: When she pees on her pad or even outside in the summer she lifts one back leg. When she's done she has to check out what she did and circle it about 3 times. I think sometimes they live in their own "speical" little worlds. I give Belle a biscut and she takes it to her bed or to a blanket or pillow and lays it down and proceeds to push pretend dirt over it to bury it, then packs it down. Sometimes she does this and my DH will say "I can still see it Belle" Then she has to dig it up and bury it somewhere else! We just kind of try not to look as long as we are not suppose to see it, but her Lab brother doesn't play along, he walks over and eats it and she runs to me like "how did he know it was there?" Really cute |
Chloe does the kick thing too after using the pad, Fiona always shakes her head making this ear flop sound every time after using the pad |
Jack does the kicking after he goes as well. Every time he does it we say 'good boy, wipe your paws' I'm hoping we can get him to do in on command soon on the mat before he goes into the house! |
