Where does my Torkie have to sleep? Hi! From Argentina... Buenos Aires. I have a male (3 months) since last week. I canīt make him sleep alone (in the kitchen) First he cried all night... now he started barking for hours... till I have to bring him to my bedroom, cause I cant sleep neither. So... heīs sleeping in my room in his little bed in the floor. My questions are... 1. Is he going to sleep alone some day if heīs now doing it in my bedroom? 2. Does any puppyYorkie sleeps alone??? Thanks!!! |
Chewie has been sleeping in his doggy bed on the floor in my bedroom ever since I got him. Your puppy is still young, he should be able to see you from where he is sleeping so he will feel safe. Put a tshirt that you have worn for a few days in his bed or crate so he can smell your scent and somehow feel your nearness. The poor thing is probably scared when you leave him in the kitchen at night. But I'm guessing he is still not used to his surroundings. It's normal for puppies to cry and bark in the night, they are hust like human babies.:) |
Leave his bed next to yours. He feels comfort in hearing you breathe and knows he's not alone. He must be frightened being alone. Is it not possible he can stay in your room in his own bed and sleep the night away with you? I think that's what is needed for him to feel relaxed and comfortable. Dogs are pack animals and like the company of their humans, especially when there are no other dog's to cozy up too for company. Buddy sleeps in bed with me. Good luck with your new puppy. I am sure sleeping in your room will solve your problem. |
I agree with what everyone here has said. My little guy pretty much demanded to sleep with me in my bed, but I just wouldn't let him and he now either sleeps in his bed in the bedroom, or with me when invited. If he barks I won't let him in bed with me -- only when he stops. Usually he seems to like sleeping on a pile of blankets in my closet which gets him up and he can see me from there. During the day he often slinks behind a wall in the kitchen and sleeps on the floor out of site. He'll be 6 months in a couple of weeks. |
