Deer poop Hi all, well I figured out how to stop Rocky from eating his brother's poop (pinapple works great) but how do I keep Rocky from eating deer poop? The deer are everwhere and fences don't help. Deer poop is small pellets and nearly impossible to pick up. I really worried he will catch something by doing this-any suggestion? |
Lola loves deer poo too! It must smell really good to them! Where I live the deer poo is everywhere...hard to stop her from eating it but I try with a firm NO and remove her from that area but it not long before she finds the next pile..LOL |
My problem is rabbit poop. Our entire backyard is covered with the little easter eggs and Maximo loves it. I rarely take him out back because of it. Like you, I am concerned that he will contract something bad from eating animal poop. Hope his monthly worm/parasite med will keep him safe. |
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for you. Thor found his first pile of horse poop the other day, and he was like, "Where have you been all my life? This stuff is AMAZING!". He also rolled in a piece before I got him away. Na-ha-hasty. |
Remy gets into deer poop at my parents house. He will roll in it and has been busted eating it. He did have a bout of parasites over the summer after being up there and while I can not directly attribute it to the deer poop, I think its likely. So, I would not doubt that they could get sick from it. My parents actually go around the yard and clean it up, pile by pile, no small task as its well over an acre and not fenced. It seems like its everywhere. Other than that I no longer let him off leash so I can more closely watch him. |
Daisy loves deer poop as well. In the spring it is all over our back yard and Daisy is like woo hoo chocolate chips! ewww it just grosses me out and I was wondering if she can get parasites from eating it. Does anyone know? |
Oh yes... Deer & Geese poop eaters here too!! It's so gross...especially when they roll on the stuff and mess their pretty harnesses. |

Ok guys, you have changed my mind from wanting to move from the city to the countryside. |
Lol, this thread is so funny, I wonder if deer's like pineapple? People are always saying dogs are like wolfs and in the wild wolfs are carnivores, well in the wild, I think dogs seem to be poopivores! |
Well, I guess while I am working on getting him to stop eating deer poo the next thing is helping him realize that those deer are way bigger than he is!!! |
I read that they can get parisites from this behavior. |
I heard this could be a nutrient difecincy try changing the food we had a problem with cat poop and when the vet said it could be a nutrient issue we changed his food and he stopped |
