Potty Training Hi all! Just want to say a quick thanks for the information made available here. It has been helpful lately. My girlfriend adopted a male yorkie puppy just a little over 6 months ago. I of course became his adopted daddy (which I certainly don't mind because he's wonderful). However, little Barrister has been having trouble lately with his potty training. She had him trained to go on the pads pretty well with only the occasional slip up. But recently it seems like he has lost all the progress that he had made. He pees in random places throughout the house and even pees 6 inches away from his pad. He's done a lot better over the last couple of weeks but the pooping is where the real trouble is. He poops under tables, chairs, wherever he feels like. He won't do it outside or on his pad. And to make things worse, the most consistent place that he does it is inside his crate at night. Even when he is put in his crate while my girlfriend is gone to class for an hour or so he poops. It's almost like he holds it until he gets in there. She's tried putting some of his poop on the pad to kind of "let him know" that this is where that goes. But the minute she turns her back, he eats it (topic for another thread. sigh). So, I apologize for the wall of text, but I promised her I would do everything I could to help her out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |
Hi, there are lots and lots of suggestions for potty training on here. Just do a search at the top. It does seem that some take to it easier then others. I guess some tend to be a little more stubborn then others too. Is the crate to big? More room to poop? To much freedom to roam about when out of the crate? Just a few thoughts and ideas mentioned in other threads. Check then out. Good luck. |
