I'm sorry....another potty training thread, but I really need help :) We have a 6 month old female. We have read all the books, researched online, we watch Dog Whisperer, Dog 101, etc. and are still having a problem with housebreaking her. Just some quick info...Mon-Fri up at 4AM, she goes out and poops and pees immediately and without problem. She is in a crate while we are both at work...about 7-9 hrs a day. When we get home, she again poops and pees immediately and without problem. But then the rest of the evening is a crap-shoot. We watch when she eats and drinks, and keep taking her out. Sometimes she'll go and sometimes she won't. But what gets us the most, is there are times when we'll take her out, she doesn't go, but then within a minute of being in, she'll pee in the house. And worse yet...sometimes it's on our futon! (like she just did a minute ago) Please, we need all the help we can get. Any suggestions? Thank you, in advance. Kathy |
First , maybe you are having her spend a little to much time in the crate so she is just to excited to be out.. If you put her in her crate at 9 or so at night to go to bed then get up at 430 am thats 7 hours then another 7-9 hours in there again.. it might be too much. Have you tried an expen.. giving her a little more room now that she is older , or maybe gating her in the kitchen.. leave her her bed, toys , water and food.. and put a pee pad or potty patch for her to relieve herself..and play and get some good excersise in... maybe that will help , it would be really hard to potty train her outside if she is alone nearly 9 hours a day , they have such tiny bladders.... Id try giving her some more room and some more excersise see if that helps and maybe she will learn where her potty place is;) |
Yes, we've talked about giving her more room during the day now. And maybe that will help. But she does know where her potty spot is outside, because every time we walk out the door, she walks right to it. That's why we don't understand why she'll pee in the house immediately after being outside. |
