going potty in the garage... Hello All, I am new to YorkieTalk. This is actually my first post! My yorkie is 5 months old now (got her at 2 months). From day one I took her on the back deck to go potty and it was so cold outside she didn't want to move. So I decided to put the potty pads in the garage and let her go there. Well, that's where she's been going for 3 months. We don't have a problem with it, (well, except my 12 year old, she's on poop patrol ) we just want to know if we are doing the wrong thing. Your replies will be appreciated. |
i dont see why putting poop pads in the garage is a bad idea. its out of the rain, wind, etc. |
That's what we've been dong this winter. With 2, hubby put 2 pads together (we use the extra large ones). This way they can still "go out" and when they come back in, they get their treat, lol. |
That doesn't sound like a bad idea! At least it's not in the house! ;) When Jackson was a pup, I let him go in the garage once during a heavy rain storm. Also, we had a big snow storm a few weeks ago here and I let him go on the porch (since our porch alone had a foot of snow - it was basically like being outside!) lol. |
Better to have the potty pads in the garage than the house.:p:D I figure whatever works to get them to go potty, then run with it. Shortly after we got Duke we were having a lot of bad lightening storms, and I put paper down in the garage a few times. Worked like a charm. Good luck! |
Thanks for all your replies...I feel more assured that I am doing the right thing. |
I agree! Mine typically go "out" but when it is snowing or raining they resist the bad weather (can't blame them) so we use the garage. I figure as long as they go "out" either outdoors or out in the garage it is better than in the house. |
