Young Mom w/ Yorkie Problems !!! My Yorkie Is 6th Months Old && A Great Girl. ! 2 PROBLEMS ! 1.) She is a very good girl , but she likes to poop in the SAME place in our livingroom. She does not pee but, she is still pooing. She does go outside on occasions, she gets praise and a treat, but that'snot enough. After she goes she is scolded & placed in her kennel. 5 minutes later we get her out and take her outside. We spray the area w/ a very popular spray , so it doesn't have the scent. HELP ! 2.) We really hate having house guests b/c my Yorkie, who i love && would like others to, jumps and gets very excited. ! A few minutes later , she is okay, but we really need her to stop getting excited in the first place, We have tried leashes, advice from others, and sit & stay, but she finds a way to jump and be a bother. HELP ! :aimeeyork--Graycie's Mom, Erika. |
something that helped me If she does it in the same spot it is becuase she DOES smell it, and your spray does not work! Put a blanket or a towel where she poop, and see if it works. I did it with my Guliver and it worked. Good luck!!:animal36:animal-pa |
try putting down a puppy pad there and see if she will use it one of our guys loves a special spot in the front room as we have play time out there in the evening and he gos right ot the spot every time so i finally just leave a puppy pad there and he never misses it |
The potty training.... you need to clean up all accidents with an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle or she will never stop going there. If you don't catch her literally in the act... you cannot punish her. Dogs have short term memory and do not understand why you are yelling at them after the fact. You need to constantly watch 24/7 and watch for signs (sniffing, etc) and take her outside. If you cannot watch her 24/7, back in the crate she goes. The crate should NEVER be used as a punishment though... it should be a happy place to go. When you are home, take her out every 30 mins. to begin with... if she doesn't go, back in the crate (but not as a punishment). As for guests... tell your guests to not pay attention to her at all. They need to ignore her. Somewhere she's learned that jumping etc gets her attention. |
The other trick I learned for bathroom accidents is to feed them where the accident is located. They tend to not want to go where they eat or sleep. |
Put her food bowl on the spot where she poops. That should stop her pooping there. My Yorkie still gets real excited when we have company. I either pick him up and hold him for a while or put him on a leash until he calms down. Also, tell the company not to look at her or pay any atention to her until she calms down. |
