Mixed up Sit and Dwon Suddenly 'sit' makes Frisco down, and 'down' makes Frisco sit. Is there a quick way to fix this? I don't understand why it happened. |
The trainer at PetSmart said (so I'm not sure how accurate this information is) that it's okay if they mix up those two commands because they are coming to a pause and giving you their attention. |
Scruffs would do the same, I said sit or down and it would be 50% chance he'd get it right (he would just guess, instead of thinking of what I say/looking at my hand)... eventually after a lot of practice he learned. With clicker training I feel it is a lot more clear to him now. |
I thought I replied to this yesterday, I guess it got lost. I am aiming to revert to just reinforcing one of them for a few days and not mentioning the other. Because he was 100% backwards, including hand signals. When sit looks solid I'll try to ease down back in again, attaching it more obviously to the right word. Sorry about the typo in the subject! |
