Help! Need sleep! I got my new baby last week. Abby is 14 weeks old. I have a 2 1/2 year old. I have tried putting her in her x pen in the kitchen and she screams all night long. Then I put her in a pack and play next to my bed, and she whines. It has nothing to do with potty training, she has been wee weeing on the pads in the middle of the night no problem. I have held strong, and tried ignoring her, but she is relentless. Oh, I also tried putting her in another room with all of the doors closed so I wouldn't hear her, but she is very loud. (no luck)! The 2 1/2 yr. old sleeps with us, but it's not safe for the little one yet. I guess I just have to ride it out. What do you think is the best solution, next to my bed in the pack and play?, In the kitchen in her x pen that she is used to during the day?, or last but not least in another bedroom in the pack and play? Thanks! |
I am sure she sees the other one getting to sleep with you and wonders why she can't. |
When I brought my 12wk old yorkipoo home the first night I put him in a crate in our bedroom. He whined some so then I laid my robe next to the crate. He went to sleep. He has been fine every since this and I still lay my robe next to his crate. A few days into his first week I put him to bed and got into bed myself, turned the lights off and he started to cry, I had forgotten to lay the robe down by his crate, and as soon as I did, he was silent. Kobe just got neutered this monday and the weekend before I slept with his blankie and gave it to the tech so he would not be scared when he was crated before and after his surgery. When I picked him up he was not shaking or scared. Try laying a shirt that you wear that day next to his crate, or take a shirt that you no loner want to wear and wear it one day and then actually put it inside with him. I've done this too. |

Anyway, he needs to be as close to you as possible. i know the whineing can get annoying, but try wearing your baby out before bedtime and I bet you and her will get some must needed rest. Hope this helps! |
I put my Kingston in a pack and play play pen right beside my bed when he cried I just reached my hand in to calm him to sleep only took three days and he didn't need my hand anymore he just went right to sleep then a month later I woke up one morning and he was in the bed jumps right out onto the bed lol my husband who's always said no dogs in the bed gave in when a whole week went by and he didn't even notice Kingston |

When I brought my girls home Hello, My Hanna is 10 yrs old and my Tiffany is 6 so it has been awhile. But when they did come home I put a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and an old wind up clock in the bed with them. They don't want to be alone and the warmth from the hot water gives them a sense of having another being with them. My Tiffany is going to go have minor surgery Tuesday and she always gets so upset. I like the idea of sleeping with her blankie and taking it with her. I am gonna give it a try and see if it helps her. Thanks for the idea. Linda |
Glad it worked. Happy Sleeping! |
mine did that until I covered his crate an he could not see around him, that helped me BIG TIME |
