After rain using bathroom problem again... Duncan is make me sooo comfused.. He can go to back yard to use bathroom when it's raining. BUT he doesnt wanna go if it's rain kinda hard, this is super understandble. HOWEVER he's willing to go if he's on the road in the front... After the rain stops, Duncan doesnt want to go use bathroom in the back yard at all. BUT, he's so eager to go to use bathroom in the park on the grass or any where there. What's the difference between back yard after rain and park after rain?!! |
My guess is he is marking when it comes to the park. They love to overwrite another dogs smell. |
yeah i agree. When Uni is here, she only goes about 2x. When she goes to the park, she goes like every 5 mins. Even if there's none left she still tries to squeeze out a few more drops. :) |
she still tries to squeeze out a few more drops hahahahahaahahaha Quote:

I think the rain brings the smells to the surface and he really wants to make sure the others know he's around, maybe he's marking areas he may have missed previously. Or maybe the rain cleans the park and he has to get there to reclaim his territory! Just be thankful that he can go and it's not in your house! That would be a bigger problem! :D I'm assuming he's the only one using the back yard? |
:Dthat's funny! u r soo right!! when he was on training, every day was just like a challenge. And I gotta pray tons of times every day just for him to give me a break from cleaning the carpet~ And now he doesnt wanna go in the back yard after it rains, and refused to use training pad in the house TOO. At the same time, just sitting here crying to use bathroom outside beside the back yard.... AND it's like 1:30 AM Quote:

Is your back yard as grassy as the park? Sydney hates to go out and potty in the rain , when she does have to go out in the rain she will walk a different path and not want to go to her usual spot in the yard ...maybe try taking him to a different part of the yard when it rains. |
Duncan goes if it's just raining not heavily. But he doesnt even wanna step down the stairs after it rains... Quote:

Forgive me, please. We speak the same language but not quite. You are all so polite. I got really confused at first when you said "go use bathroom in back yard or go use bathroom in the park". I thought, do they have a bathroom in their back yard? Then the dog uses the bathroom in the park? Then it occurred to me that you meant have a pee in the back yard/park!!! Another poster confused me further by saying "go potty". What a clever dog, using a potty! Now I know what you mean, I also have a dog who is reluctant to go out and pee in the back garden if the weather is unpleasant. We have just had several inches of snow, and he was fine with that, but when most of the snow melted then the ground froze, he didnt seem to want to go out and do anything. He wouldnt perform in the garden when we had the gales or the driving rain either. You cant really blame them though. We wouldnt like to use a backyard bathroom and a centrally heated carpetted room is much nicer! |

Is's a dog thing. I am sure it makes perfect sense to them. |
OMG'sh, I used to have this very same issue w/Apple...I couldn't always get her to go in the nice fenced in back yard, but put her on a leash, and go to the front yard, and she was good to "go" lol....I'm pretty lucky now, because she pee pees on command...I mean, I think she squats and goes through the motions, even if she doesn't need to go...I wish Buzz would go on command, but he's more pad trained, and Apple is outside trained...Don't get me started on their differences lol...That's another story... |
