i dont have any advise but she sounds like a smart and determined little cookie ;) sounds like shes going to give you a run for ya money Ü good luck |
The plastic looks like a really good idea. We didn't have the problem of Willy going over the child gates, he found that if you chewed thru the plastic in 2 or 3 places he could go right thru it. And better yet, at first glace you cannot tell the gate was chewed. ;) |
Good luck. I hope the thing works. I found a neat pen at Dr. Smith and Fosters but it is too big to come through the mail here. I just saw my girl leap for the cardboard wall that I have keeping them in the kitchen and she catches it with her nails and pulls herself up and over. She is so happy that she runs all over. It is really hard to get mad. She is too cute. Her brother can't quite make it yet. Yorkies are just to smart for their own good. Sam&Deesmom |
What about keeping her in a small room like a bathroom or something? |
Escape Artist Hi, I feel your pain. We have a 2 1/2 month old Yorkie puppy who thinks she is Spider Woman. So, my fiance and I decided for her own safety we would buy a crate as well as a playpen, so that her crate was her "bedroom" and the playpen was her "house". We thought it would be nice for her to have all that space. Anyhow, one morning I put her in her playpen and I went to go take a shower. I was 100% sure I put her inside her playpen, but sure enough when I turned the water off I heard her running in the hallway. When I opened the door- there she was- staring up at me with her big innocent brown eyes. I was shocked and couldn't imagine how she got out. A few days later- I caught her in the act. She actually climbed the pen like it was a ladder and jumped out!!!! Were also thinking of a cover, but not sure how it's going to work. Has anyone had success with a cover??? Jen |
Hey Jen, I finally broke down, and purchased a mesh cover for her playpen. In fact, it just came today in the mail! We went with the mesh so it's not so dark in there, and there is positively no way she'll get out of it now. However, we will have to be very careful in taking her collar off anytime she is put in there!! The plastic idea was good, I though, but she just constantly jumped and jumped and tried to get out, I think because she probably knew if she tried hard enough that she could. Hopefully with the mesh top, she will figure out that it's just not going to happen. We'll see. The only thing I already don't like about it is that we don't have a built in door in our playpen, so to get her in and out we have to take off three of the snap clips and fold the top back. Although, fortunately it's hinged in the middle, so you just remove the clips and fold it back on top of itself. I'm thinking about trying to fashion or buy just the panel with a gate in it, but I'm not sure if they make 30" tall panels with a gate. If nothing else, I could buy a taller one and cut it down... I'll post an update when we see how it works. |
Just to clarify... we bought the WIRE mesh top, not the net type top. I had thoughts that with the net type she'd chew on it, or find a way to chew through it... not so with the metal... |
