Needs Help!!! 1 Attachment(s) New to this site and very glad I found it. I have a 8 month Yorkie X (Long haired Chihuahua) She looks a lot like a yorkie thou. What I need help with is. When we go out and we are putting her away. She stays in a bedroom with her kennel & toys. While we are getting ready to go out (getting our coat, keys, putting kennel in room ect) she gets very excited barks, paces and barks. She goes in the room as she knows where to go and does not try to come out. But as we close the door she gets so worked up we think she is going to have a heart attack. Also if only one person leaves she also gets very hyper and barks and very excited. Does any one know how to break her of this?? we would like her to be able to be a little calmer when we leave or even one person leaves as it would be easier on her. :D Thanks in advance :) Dar Attachment 302060 Lacey at 5 months |
Hmmm, it sounds like separation anxiety. I haven't personally dealt with this problem, but I know it is common. I suggest you search this website for topics about separation. Good luck, I'm sure it must worry you to have your baby so upset. |
I agree it does sound like separation anxiety. You may want to leave her with a special treat, maybe something like a knong with PB in it. Also I would start training her to stay in the room while you are home. Start getting her to sit and stay, give treats, after that is mastered I would get her to sit and stay and leave the room, give treats. After that get her to sit and stay and leave the room and close the door.... you get where I'm going with this. You need to teach her how to react. Good luck and let us know how it goes:p |
