High energy AHHHHHHHH Ruger uses WeeWee pads, but also wants to play with them as soon as I put a new one down. For some reason he loves paper, tissue of any kind. As soon as I put a pad down he grabs it and starts dragging it around the room. I scold him and put it back, but lately he's become really rambunctious. I do play with him but my girlfriend thinks he's bored. It's like somebody not only wound him up but put in new batteries, too. Right now he's dragging his bed all around the room. It's like his dealer has been giving him puppy uppers. |
How old is your puppy? My puppy is 11 1/2 weeks and he is totally rambunctious he gets going and doesn't stop, If I say NO in a stern voice he barks at me and keeps doing want ever it was he wasn't supposed to be doing--like chewing or biting fingers. I am hoping it is just the puppy in him and not a sign of what's to come. He is so cute and can be a lover and cuddler but he is so hyper. |
They sell certain wee wee pad holders, my first pup was pretty rambunctious too. But they usually do this when they're bored or if their teeth hurts. |
Ruger is going on 13 weeks old. I'm hoping it's the puppy in him, too. God, I need some sleep. Right now he's dragging is bed around and also humping it. However, as you said, he's so damn cute when he looks up at me I can't get too angry. |
Your pups are just babies, and have much to learn. They are just being normal pups. Everything is fair game to them. Pee pads need to be in the holders to prevent them from using them for toys. Keep plenty of squeaker toys at hand allll the time to sidetrack their attention from dragging beds & other objects that are not toys. Be prepared to work hard for the next few months. They will be the hardest. The day will come when you can start to relax & enjoy the benefits of a well behaved dog if you stay on it. You'll be saying 'AH-AH' and 'Leave it' over and over and over. Just make sure your voice reflex that you mean it! Be firm. Tissues are still a favorite of Roxy's. She can have one shredded in a heartbeat. She can spot the tiny corner of one in my pocket, grab it, run across the room & have it shredded before I even know she's got it. lol! If your pup hasn't started with the 'zoomies', don't be alarmed when it happens. Just sit back & enjoy it! It's NORMAL! You won't be able to catch him, so just enjoy it. If you don't know what the zoomies are, I think you'll recognize it when it starts. lol! Now that's some hight energy! There's so many threads here about all the puppy issues. Keep reading & reading. Every pup is different, & you have to be open to new approaches & be ready to switch gears as needed. Good luck with your cuties! |
Hi Have you tried the washable pee pads? You can get them at a medical supply store. They are the pads used on beds in nursing homes etc and are wet proof.Pricey at first but you can wash them and they last forever. The pup we had did not play with them at all like the other ones. |

I actually started laughing out loud when I read Roxyluv's repsonse to this post. Winston has the same issue, shredding tissues in mere moments and the zoomies, I think it was called. Man its frustrating, but you are right, just sit back and laugh 'cause you're never gonna catch them! |
Lol my baby boy Ares is 3 months old, and he still pulls on his puppy pads! He is doing he zomming thing right now! He is running circles around my one year old boxer Tank! Tank lies there like a big brother who is so annoyed! Lol I hope he grows out of it! I try to walk Ares for 15 mins but our walks are cut short by hawks that I see circling above! Our vet gave me waning that they will swoop down on any little thing! Pets, rabbits, ect. Out of his litter the breeder informed me that two of his sisters we lost that way:( only Ares and Bonnie left from the litter! |
