Help! My Yorkie won't stop biting I have a month old yorkie and she won't stop biting us. She use to be terrible with biting the furniture and walls, but it seems like she has stopped doing that. She now bites myself and my husband. She is playing when she does so, but how can we make her stop biting us? She bites our feet when he walk by her, our hands and everything. I have tried a stern "NO" when she does that and i have also tried a high pitched yelp, but nothing seems to work! Can someone please help me? I will appreciate all the advice that is given. Thanks! |
Are you saying your Yorkie is 4 weeks old and she has already been taken from her mom? |
Help! My Yorkie won't stop biting I'm sorry she is 7 months old. That was a typo. |

When she bites you remove your hand and give her something to chew on. She really is old enough to stop chewing on you. |

IMHO the problem is even though Ruger bites very softly, if he does this to a child or another person who quicly pulls back I'm sure they will get scratched at minimum. I also try to pet him around the mouth gently giving him the opportunity to bite me so I can work on this till he stops completely. It is getting better. BTW, I have no idea what I'm doing (my first dog) but I've been using every gentle approach to training I can come up with |
Hi I found when we had our pup he would try and bite and chew our fingers and hands. I read that when you pull away they think you are playing. It is better to move your hand forward towards the back part of their mouth and they let go. We did this with Tommy and he soon stopped. He didnt chase our feet so not sure what to do with that. Maybe use a squirt bottle. |
If Lily gets a little too excited and starts biting our hands, we simply hold them completely still. She stops right away then, and licks it a little instead. She is 7 months old and still a playful puppy. Biting hands is not ok though. |
