4 dry days and counting. Rosie is 9.5 months and fingers crossed we have cracked the pooty issue, she's never taking to pads prefering to destroy them, same with news paper, far to much fun there. Sunday night we had aired Ceasers methods for bringing a puppy home & house traing, so I decided to go back to basics as Rosie was/is still having the odd accident during the day. Now she preferes sleeping in the crate in the kitchen its become easy to justtake her out after food or when she gets up, plus their daily walk. Its working I think because she has never ascociated the kitchen with a place to pee or poop. She has free access to the carpeted area after shes been out to do her potty.Hopefully one day she'll follow Alfie and begin to ask to be let out. |
Would that episode of Caesar's be on line? Would love to see it! Thanks |
I'm not sure as we tend to get episodes later than in the U.S. He said what he does is straight after feeding he places the pups in their crates foe 30mins, then takes them to the designated toilet area. I figured Rosie needed somewhere away from Alfie as he pounces on her all the time to play so put her up on one of the raised flowerbeds, or I'll put her on her lead to take her to a patch of grass nearby. She actually went to the door yesterday and waited to be let out which was a happy surprise. Somebody had an accident last night but they had a bit of an upset tummy but that was on the kitchen tiles so easy to clean up. Hope yoy find it. I also spotted a little yorkie nosing around in the background, causing trouble naturally. |
Thanks for the info. I'll try the 30 minute thing. |
Hope it works out for you. We've had a couple of accidents but thats down to us not keeping with the routine, the weekend always throws us out especially with x-mas shopping and everthing else. Hopefully when the holidays arrive I can really get stuck in though I still hope to have cracked it by then. The hardest thing with Rosie is reading her as she sits and stares at you if she needs to go out and its difficult to interprit sometimes. |
