Still having training problems We've had both our girls now for just over a year. They're two sisters, Lola Mienkie. Generally Lola is very good, she pees on the pee pad, but not always (well, more often than not really), Mienkie does pee on the pad as well, but she's more inclined to pee on the carpet. They are lovely, caring, beautifull dogs, but this peeing is really frustrating us now. We have to replace all the carpets in the house, but not till they're fully house trained. We don't have a routine as such, we work different hours every day, so very little routine in our house, I've just changed jobs, so it looks like we'll be into more of a routine now. Some weeks we go through, with no accidents and some weeks loads. Up to how long before a Yorkie is fully trained? |
I wouldn't let them have full run of the house. Perhaps use an x pen on a bare floor when you're not at home with wee wee pads in one part for them to use and food and water in the other. Dogs really need that routine. They need to know what to expect everyday or they can become anxious. Once you get settled in your new job, things should ger easier. I agree with Kirby, get an x pen in the kitchen when you can't be there. Take note of what time they eat and drink, and how many hours it has been since they've last gone. Everytime they go on the pad, of course say Good Pee pee. When they don't, say Bad girl, No pee pee. Get them to know what "pee pee" means (or potty or whatever word you use). When they know the word you can get them to go on command instead of just waiting till they want to go. |
