Help please
 
I have 2 yorkies... Kayne (2 years) and Abel (9 months). I am trying to keep my baby from tearing up everything. I feel bad that I have to "lock-up" Abel whenever I leave the house and Kayne gets to run free (he is such a good dog). On occasion I try to leave Abel out with Kayne to see how he will do. Most of the time, like today, I find the house in disarray. He is into everything. He goes into rooms of the house that he normally would not go if I am home i.e. the kitchen. I am trying to teach him, but with no success. Also when I "lock" him up he gets an attitude and goes to the bathroom in his cage. I always take him out before I leave to go anywhere and no matter if he just went or not, I come home and have to give him a bath. I am at my wits end. It is so stressful. I dont want to give up on him. Is it because he is still a puppy? What can I do? I need YT's help!!!:confused:

Could you possibly block off your kitchen and leave them both in there with a r pee pee pad on the floor? My babies were both puppies at the same time and were both crated when we left and some time after they turned one year old we let them run free when we left. I hope someone else can help you who has the same situation.

Hi I guess it must be hard cause your older dog is so good and you dont want to lock him up too.:(


I have a two year old and a 16 week old.I have to leave the pup in the exercise pen and I leave the older one have the run of the house.I think a pup is not really safe to have the run of the house anyway so he is better off to be confined even if he does not like it.He will be safer anyway.He could start to chew wires etc.

Maybe just put the pup in the kitchen like suggested and block him with a pee pad and let your older dog have the larger area of the house as he is not doing anything wrong? Seems kinda unfair to make him do the same as the pup.That or put him in his crate with a little less room so he will not want to mess in it as he wont want to lay in it. I had to do this with my dogs for a while with their carrier beds they sleep in at night and it works.

I block off my kitchen and dining room... could you do something like that? That way they could both run around together but the puppy couldn't get into too much trouble?
