yeah i think they have emotions too. My friend's rescue dog is still terrified of anyone with heavy feet. What i dont think they can do is make a connection between something they do now and a much later, seemingly unconnected response. eg i'm sure my puppy understands that when she picks up my shoes in front of me to chew i get annoyed, (and sometimes she does do it delibrately to get a response) but if i got home and found something had been chewed while i was out and then got angry, she wouldnt be able to make the connection between my anger and her actions. |
I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I leave him at home he pees in the house: on the carpet, on the bed, on flowers.. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? Dog Trainer We had problems with our dog also. He used to pee or poop inside of our house all the time when left alone. Both my husband and I work a lot and had no time to take our Pringles to dog training classes. We asked one friend who works in foster care (he is always surrounded by dogs) what we should do. Believe it or not dogs get jealous too so probably that's one of the reasons why Jackson is acting strange. He maybe is so jealous with the new puppy and he wants to get your full attention. I have that kind of dog and the only difference is he keeps on peeing on my room's carpet each time which he never did before. |
My dogs get super jealous too but they dont have behavioral problems. I adopted a little maltese girl that was poorly treated and she used to poop in bits all over the house. a little piece here, a little piece a few feet away, a little more in another spot. It was so annoying! She also used to pee on every rug she could find. I started accustoming them to taking them out 4 times a day since I work from home. They go out at 8 am when I wake up, then at 1pm on my lunch break, then again at 5 when I'm out work and one final time right before bed time. We have 0 accidents in the house nor in their crates and they do very well. I recommend this method if you're home all the time like I am. I've noticed also, with the dogs I've had they usually dont like to make a mess where they sleep. I've never had a problem with them peeing or pooping in their crates or beds. |
