Excitment pees Hi! My 9 months old "Tus" is house break but when he gets super duper excited (only happens when we are back home) then he pees on himself\all over the floor without even knowing.. I believe it has to do with separation anxiety any tips on "separation anxiety" or on "excitment peeing" from anyone? links are good too! thanks!! |
our Pinky does the same when people come to visit her she gets really hyper and happy and pees a lil randomly |
This 'peeing upon greeting' is fairly common; I believe Cocker Spaniels are particularly prone. Sometimes paying absolutely no attention to the dog until it has calmed down will sidetrack this problem. |
Yeah ... this is a hard one to stop It comes from them getting excited ..... try the trying to keep things calm sometimes they outgrow it I had a pup many years ago with this same problem and he never grew out of it |
is there any professional advise? perhaps a link to an article or something? p.s i'm trying to give him the "cold shulder" but i'm not sure he cares if i actually do something with him or just beeing there in order to get excited. |
Ours is 8 y/o and does it sometimes. If I know that someone is coming, especially people she really likes, I will either put her in another room or take her out for a pee before they come. |
My Tiki used to do this for most of her first year. I tried to calm things down when I come home, and walk away from her at the front door instead of greeting her and adding to the excitement. Don't look at her or pet her, and I head directly to the back door to let all the dogs out to pee (especially if they've been inside long). Either that helped, or she outgrew it, cause now at a year and a half, she doesn't do it. |
we had guests yesterday that she likes, and she got really hyper but didnt pee herself!! maybe this is a sign of progress lol |
