Pee Issues... I know a lot of you have probably been through this... It's driving me mad. I have a yorkie (Zoey) who is almost a year old now. She's been trained properly to go on a pee pad. And she does awesome... Until she's left alone on the bed. She'll pee on it whenever she feels like it. I can never catch her in the act because I'm almost always doing something at the time she pees. I'm not sure what to do... This has been happening since she started doing good on her pee pads... Should I scold her? Rub her face in it? :( I dunno what to do to make her stop. I already tried making it so she can't jump on the bed but she always weasels her way onto it anyway somehow. Pleeeeeease. Any advice will help. |

I agree with the above poster. If you can't trust her on your bed, don't leave her on your bed. It's simple. Every privilege our dogs have they have to earn. If we come home to a potty accident then we go back to gating them in the kitchen when we leave. In doing so you also set them up for success. Reward when they do something good, and correct when they do something wrong but ONLY if you catch them in the act. Try placing her on the bed, watching her and when you see her pee, firmly say no and take her off your bed. |
I know that this is frustrating, but please no rubbing her nose in the potty; unless you have caught her in the act, she simply won't connect the dots anyway. You don't want to teach her that you can be overly punitive......just firm, structured and consistent. Redirect the bad stuff, reward the good. If Zoey keeps getting on the bed, perhaps you could purchase some of those little bumper gates that toddlers use to keep from rolling off in the night? |
Close the bedroom door. |
pee issues I caught Tuff only once on the bed. But I notice he will hike around in various places. When I catch him I have started putting his nose by it (not in it)and spank him (once on his hinney)tell him outside and while I hate to spank Tuff my husband is at his wits end and says he (Tuff) is doing this because I don't spank him??? Tuff knows what "go outside" means, when I ask him he runs to the door if he wants out or just looks at me if he dosen't. Either way it is a success. I am seeing little steps in better behavior but not my husband, If I see a "present" from Tuff I put it in the toilet before my husband see's it, the presents are less and less, maybe twice in last 3 weeks. I don't want Tuff scared of my hands but I don't know what else to do, I can't crate all day. At one point he stayed tied to my belt loop and went everywhere with me in the house this stopped a lot of issues, but that has been 4-5 weeks and he seems to be going back into old habits. One day it will be good (I hope) :-) |

Take him out to pee and poo and if he go's treat him and then a lttle playtime. When you cant be with him keep him in the pen with his pad etc. Dont let him run the house. He will have to earn his house privileges:) |
