Satan's Puppy! Really just kidding about that - I love my little Sookie dearly and my 5 year old male Tucker is really benefitting from having a playmate but egads! this biting and attacking thing is enough to make you crazy - I have just finished reading all the threads about biting and how to stop it - see she is right this minute attacking my hands as I try to type! - I will be trying all the pointers there - she is the first one I have had with this level of energy and bite interest - she was taken from mom earlier than I would have liked and I understand that is where they learn much of the bite inhibition - now I really believe that! It is a challenge to sleep when she is trying to rip my hair out and chew my nose off! I know, y'all will probably suggest kenneling and I may eventually have to go there but all my babies have started by sleeping with me from day one and she is the first one I have ever had issues with - love her dearly but wow! is she a tomboy little girl!!!!!! Thanks for being here with all the info and sorry I've been away - we've had some family issues we're dealing with - will try to check in more often! Thanks again, Dana |
Well, if she is biting your fingers while you are typing then you just need to put her onto the floor and hand her a toy to play with instead. If she is biting you while you are trying to sleep then she needs to be put down and crated or into her own doggy bed. It is very hard when they are taken too early from their littermates and mom. I have one too and she is just inappropriate and I have never been able to correct some of her behaviors. :( |

I do exactly as megansmomma suggested; take away the attention when the behavior isn't desirable. Boom, down on the floor with a firm 'no.' Redirect with something positive, like a chew toy. (Daisy likes rubbery ones with a bit of give when she bites down on them.) Oh, and Daisy is also big on sass! She will 'leave it' when asked, but she will bark to let you know she is not happy! Different dogs need different things, so maybe Sookie isn't ready to sleep on the bed just yet. I am actually pretty proud that Daisy has such a spunky personality; she combines it with so much cuddling and affection, I am confident that this too shall pass. :) |
I understand your plight but you need to explain something ... how does a little puppy get to where she can bite your fingers while you're typing? and how can a little puppy get on the bed and bite you on the nose while you are sleeping without you putting her there in the first place? I sense a bit of humor in your note and yeah they are funny when they play and nip but as you can see it gets old .... and wait .... and see.... it gets REAL old and fast First things first sitting on Mom's lap or being invited into bed is a privilege She bites? She goes down Biting is never tolerated ... ever Because then they think it's ok |
