Kirby | 09-29-2009 12:38 PM | Don't give her free run of the house. She isn't house broken yet. Keep her in a confined area without the box. Place a towel for her to sleep on. Make sure the space isn't too big so she won't use one end for a potty. If you have a crate, I suggest using it. Take her out to eat, play, and use the box, but then put her back in the confined area. I take Sydney (3.5-months old) out at 7 a.m. for potty, breakfast, play, potty, play, and crate. At noon, I take her out for lunch, play, potty, and crate. At five, I take her out for dinner, play, potty, and crate. At eight I take her out for water and play. She goes back into the crate at nine. At eleven, she comes out for one more potty break for the night. I got this from the book I bought, How to Housebreak Your Dog in Seven Days. It's taking more than seven days, but it's helping to keep Syd on a schedule. |
