So frustrated! Don't understand! Hi everyone! I'm new here; I rescued my yorkie, Taz, about a month ago. He is about 4 months old. I am trying to pad train him because we live in a condo, so it's the best option. We started off w/ a pad on a tray meant for it, then we switched to a crate w/ a pad in it so that we can contain him untill he goes, which is usually within 5 min. There are times he will go in on his own and go, he's done both pee and poop on his own. So he knows what he's supposed to do on the pad. But, most of the time, when he goes on his own, it is off the pad! But probably 90% of the time, he goes right next to the pad/crate. So, then I tried putting a pad in front of the crate as well as inside, and he peed on it, but then a little later, he peed next to it! I just don't understand how he seems to know what to do, does it sometimes all on his own, but then goes in the right vicinity, right next to the pad! Does anyone have any insight/advice? Thanks, Selena |
they get their front feet on the pad and do not realize that their back feet need to be on it also. Also, mine will go beside the pad if the pad has too many urine spots on it already. |
There have been a few times where that has happened I think, and I was just saying to my husband that maybe they are too dirty for him sometimes. So we're going to see if keeping it clean makes a difference. It's just that it's going to get expensive if he only wants to go a couple times on it. We'll see! :) |
You might want to cobnsider getting the washable pads. The original cost is high but if he is going to be using them exclusively, it will save money in the long run. Or perhaps one of those grass patches or backyard buddy. |
