Does anyone have the Backyard Buddy???
 

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and does the dog actually use it?

It would save me a bundle on pee pads, but it is a problem to clean?
when the weather is bad, mine do not like to go outside, and with winter coming I was just thinking ....... Hmmmmmmmm

I do not have the backyard buddy but I would be curious to know how people are making out with this. I am having problems with my puppy using the puppy pads (she shreds them and then pushes them aside to go on the floor). It is getting cold out here in PA and I would feel better if my puppy would be able to go inside and outside. I am also curious about the clean factor! thanks :)

I have a potty patch which is almost the same thing. It works great for my baby Libby as she was weaned on this. Zoe, not so great but with winter coming, maybe she will get used to it. I actually use a washable pee pad between the layers and then every few weeks I wash out the grass in the tub with some bleach.

Well, that certainly looks interesting but what about 'solid' waste? I mean, I have 2 that would b e using it and Megan is a 'walkinpooper' so I would have the grass mat and the floor to clean!





NikkiSpice...do you use the tray with your pads? My girls used to tear up the disposable pads too but that stopped as soon as I bought atray to hold them. I use the heavy duty one, it looks nice, it holds the edges very secure and protects the floor.

I am guessing that you pick up the poop. If itis normal solid yorkie poop it would not need washing every time. And I think they use kitty litter or something like it in the lower tray.

I have been thinking about this too. I have multipile babies, so I guess I might need more than one of these.

I have the tray and the artificial grass with hole's in it.. I got a large one.. and it can be used in the house in the winter.. I bought two grass pieces.. this way when one is washer with a hose and cleaned.. the other one is drying..
I go to Flroida in the winter and have a larger deck for the dogs.. do not like to to go out freely and they all seem to want out at different times.. and we live at a large pond.. so there went our small dog yard when the aligator appeared..it is gone now.. but I feel safter the way I am doing it..but could be used in a laundry room also.. pick up the poops and put them in the toilet and spray down the grass...

NO.. Sonya delivered it to us when we camped at the meet up in virginia.. it was too big to ship... we set it up in the dog yard.. and believe me.. every single dog put in our dog yard tried it out.. they just thought it was grass.. it looks so real.. cannot wait to use it in Florida.. anne

I use the potty patch. With the little white picket fence in the back of it, it's not so obnoxious looking. Kinda cute, actually. Bug uses it consistently. Baby is a diva and has her 'moments'. She prefers a washable pee pad, go figure. I pick up poop as soon as I see it.

I use a disposable pee pad under it. If they even see a corner of the pad sticking out from under the grass, they are all about pulling the pad out and chewing.

We have two systems, for a couple of rooms. I am going to washable pads, partly for travel, partly for Baby and partly to use under the patch system to eliminate the chewing.

I ordered extra grass mats when I purchased the system. I change the pads daily, and change the grass mats every other day. I throw the mats in the tub, and uh, um.. well, we shower on grass. They get cleaned when we do...LOL We have a hand held and at the end of our shower they get 'finished' and thoroughly rinsed front and back and hung to dry and ready for the next change out. So, they are washed in body wash and shampoo...and once a week in bleach. I kinda like the feel of 'grass' between the toes. Yeah, I know...TMI... I figure if there is no poo on it and everything is all soapy and getting clean...okay... I'll shut up...

It is probably at least 2 ft wide or better and is like 40 inches long.. so they just think it is really grass I think.. I got a friend to get it for me.. there was a meet up in California and given to Sonya (sunnie) and she delivered it to me at the meet up.. I just had to wait for a few months for it.. I think I paid over a hundred dollars and got the two grasses instead of one..they do sell them online.. I cannot remember the exact amount as it was last winter I asked for it.. and met sonya in July.. but was worth my wait..I am not sure what it is called... but the grass sits on a black try with a lip on it.. anne

That sounds likea good system to me. How are they in price as compared to the BYB for $30, not including extra grass.

Doggie potty a training solution. , okay I called it potty patch but it is actually the doggiepotty. right now it is on sale for 99 for the petite size. that is the website. the prices for extra grass and the fence etc... are all listed. you could find extra grass from other venues. my bad on the mislabeling the product.

This is really good information. I really think my girl Stella got used to going on grass and that is why she stopped using puppy pads. She doesnt even want to step on them anymore. my2byz: I just wanted to respond to your question. I did use a tray to hold the potty pad down in her xpen and she used that when I was not home. Then one day she just stopped and refused to use it. So I got rid of it and had to start putting 5 (!!!) down all over her ex pen using tape to secure them just so she stopped going on my floor (I was getting urine stains!). Then she figured out if she shreds one of them and pushes it aside, leaving all the others just fine, she had a place to go on the floor. One day I came home and her toy, with treats in it, had gone somehow got to the opposite side of her xpen and she wouldnt even walk over the puppy pads to go get it. There were two full treats in it so she really really hates to walk on those pads. haha.
