Training help? Well, I have a 6 year old male yorkie.. He gets aggressive quite a bit, sometimes when I go to put his leash on, or just for random reasons. He's been going to the bathroom alot in the house, it's quite annoying, but I'm not sure what approach to take? (I walk him often) Anyway it's usually when I go to get him in his crate that he gets like that, or when I go to get him off my couch.. Not sure what I can do.. No, I will not neuter him because he's a purebreed... By the way I've had him for about 2 1/2 - 3 months now. |
What does being purebred have to do with neutering him? Are you planning to breed? for the aggression I would look to The Dog Whisoperer. Either watch his show or get his CD's or books. You have to take on the role of pack leader. You might think they you are, but if he is aggressive towards you, then truely you are not. Once you resolve that issue, the other issues will be easy to deal with. |

second if it is aggression do not breed it as fear concerns which are the base of aggression is passed through gentics through lines.. we think and is being studied. second not cesear or any of his workings at it is far to roug h for dogs. Look into work by AVBA on You tube. JL |

The first thing I would do is to take him to the vet for a good checkup to eliminate any health issues he may be having. Could you explain the aggression in a bit more detail :) There are many members here who have a tremendous amount of experience with Yorkies -- and many different views on training. |

True there are are many members here that work training yorkies not many work aggresion at the level in which a vet with behaviour understanding can and is able, so when you do the vet trip ask if he or she is part of the AVBA or knows a member. JL |
